The Nerja Councillor for Beaches and the Environment, Nieves Atencia, has passed on the news that the provincial delegate for the Junta de Andalucia has accepted the town’s request for the permanent placing of sun beds and sunshades on Playa Cañuelo, which is a protected beach.
A motion was originally approved in a Plenary Meeting of the Town Council in June, to approach the Junta with this request – if it had been a normal beach, there would have been no problem, but as it lies within a Parque Natural, it requires regional-level approval.
Consequently, sunbeds and sunshades will be included with the Plan de Playas de 2013, unless the world ends, as predicted at the end of December 2012, which could delay things…
