Qué Os Jodan!

Just in case you had any doubt, this means, “screw you,” or more accurately within the context of the incident, “screw them.” This graphic proposal for involuntary sex was proffered in the last Parliamentary session in Madrid.

It must have been some left-wing, gutter-catapulted MP, perhaps… but no, it was a conservative, female MP, who decided to shout out such a suggestion during the Prime Minister’s announcement that unemployment benefit would be cut drastically, bless her cotton socks.

As you can imagine, an avalanche of criticism has fallen upon her sweet and demure shoulders. Comparisons have been made between this lady’s attitude and the Italian female minister, who burst into tears and was unable to continue during her announcement concerning a drastic cut to pensions.

In fact, the whole attitude of the conservative benches in the Parliament, who staged a standing ovation for the Prime Minister, after explaining that he was going to cut the weakest sector of the economy, was in stark contrast to the sense of tearful tragedy expressed by the Italian minister. So, things were bad enough without Sra. Andrea Fabra’s yelled advice.

The said MP, after realising that even a government majority could not shield her from the wrath of a nation; a nation groggy from the onslaught of spending cuts, hastily explained that she was not referring to the unemployed, but to the gathered socialist MP’s…

So, rather than apologising for unsavoury parliamentary conduct, and a stunning lack of tact, she appears to have virtually admitted that she is totally unsuitable for her office by her very conduct.

But the criticism that we offer from the Seaside Gazette is but a drop in the ocean as far as public outrage goes; 70,000 people have already demanded her resignation via the Internet.

The Prime Minister, in the meantime, practices his Olympic-level sport of staying well clear of giving any explanation to anybody; an attitude fondly known as Mariano Mutis.

But should the Spanish general public be surprised by a bloated body politic that is quite happy to slash around them to cut Spanish public spending, whilst ignoring their own superfluous ranks? Perhaps Sra Andrea Fabra should resign and find herself an honest job, or better said, qué se joda, no?
