Off to the UK now and a four-month-old hamster by the name of Smurf who had an unfortunate encounter with a magnet.

Smurf, was found hanging from her cage by her mouth when owner Kate Meech return from a day out, which meant poor old Smurf may well have been dangling by the dentures for up to eight hours.

After prizing the rodent from the railings, Kate inspected the little animal and discovered the outline of a magnet from a child’s toy in the creatures cheek pouch.

The magnet was from the foot of a Spider-Man action figure belonging the Kate’s young son and Smurf had obviously been mistaken the little object for a nut.

Anyway, magnetic Smurf managed to expel the magnet through the skin of her cheek pouch that repaired itself within days, leaving her none the worse for wear. Spider-Man however lost many of his ‘Spidey’ powers and has been in therapy since the incident.
