Almuñécar held its first dog show, which was held on the Blas Infante (where the Friday Market is held) on Sunday 15th, with nearly 200 dogs taking part.
The dog show, whose results count towards the Campeonato de Andalucía, was one by an American Akita called Oso, entered by Cecilio Maeztu. The four judges, belonging to the national and international committee, had a tough time deciding upon the three top dogs, from the ten different categories: Veterans, Open, Intermediate, pups, baby, pairs, Breeding Group and Special Spanish Breeds.
The show was organised by Sexitanos Afganos, which is sponsored by the Town Hall and the Sociedad Canina de Andalucía Oriental.
The press release does not mention what form the prizes took or if anybody was eaten… Mind you, it did rain cats and dogs.
