The Mayor of Almuñécar, Trinidad Herrera (PP) has inaugurated a new tourist information office. Also present at the opening ceremony was the Chairman of the Chiringuitos de la Costa tropical, Francisco Trujillo, as well as the Chairman of the Asociación de Hoteleros de la Costa Tropical, Rafael Lamelas.

The idea certainly has merit as it is located in what is the epicentre of Almuñécar; i.e., the Paseo del Altillo, mere metres away from the underground car park there.

The building in which it is housed is, in fact, the old pentagonal newsagent kiosk, which has always belonged to the Town Hall.

This sub-tourist office has Internet connection and is in direct contact with the main tourist office in the Palacio de la Najarra. In the new installations, tourists will be able to obtain, maps, entrance tickets and other useful bits and pieces that a tourist might require.
