21 Arrests But Free Pending Trial

The judiciary system often appears to be defective; too slow and often delivers controversial sentences. The case of a petty thief that has been arrested 21 times but still hasn’t been sent to prison is a classic example.

The person in question, a 30-year-old woman, is a thief who operates on the weekends in packed bars and discos. In the latest incident, the 20-year-old victim in a moment of forgetfulness, left her handbag on a table whilst she crossed the room to talk with a friend.

The thief grabbed the bag and quickly left the establishment. The next day she turned up at a bank wearing sunglasses, presented the ID of the victim and withdrew 1,005 euros from the girl’s account.

The police knew who to look for because this ‘operator’ is the only thief in the province that uses this modus operandi. They examined the CCTV footage, confirming their suspicions, and arrested the woman, only to release her pending trial… again.
