The Town Hall of Almuñécar enlisted the help of Malaga-based divers to retrieve an abandoned fishing net that was lying on the seabed in front of Marina del Este.

The net, when laid out, covered 300 sq/m of beach, so laying were it was it presented a serious danger for bathers and fauna.

It’s removal was carried out last Sunday, as a result of a report from a diver who spotted the large fishing net whilst on a pleasure dive. The net evidently belonged to fishermen carrying out illegal fishing and was then lost.
