The Almunecar (Almuñécar) Town Hall has decided that its offices will be open for an extra 150 minutes each day to attend to the general public, starting from the 1st of October.
The Mayoress, Trinidad Herrera, considers that by extending the hours for attending to the general public, the Town Hall will be coming into line with article 103.1 of the Spanish Constitution, which establishes that Public Administration will “serve objectively the general interests and will act in accord with the principles of efficiency, Hierarchy, de-centralisation…”
Whatever the reasoning behind it, the public hours will be extended from 10.30h – 13.00h to 09.00h to 14.00h.
As an aside, it is worth mentioning that around 10.30 in the morning, town-hall staff begin disappearing for breakfast, so although the offices are open to the public, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you will find the person that you are looking for at his/her desk.
