(Granada, city) Having a catheter introduced into something more accustomed to expelling urine is painful and guaranteed to make even a saint irritable at the mere thought of having one inserted, but punching the nurse is a tad overboard.

The incident, which took place in the Hospital Ruiz de Alda in the city of Granada, is being investigated by the judicial department.

According to the ‘denuncia’ which was filed soon after the 3rd of September, when the alleged attack took place, a nurse was attending to a man that had been brought into the Emergency Department by family members around 22.30h. The nurse approached the man, who was lying on a stretcher bed with the intentions of inserting a catheter, but instead the man sat up, raising both fists in a defensive manner, before striking the young lady in the face, without uttering a word beforehand.

The nurse had to be treated by her colleagues, thanks to the injury received. One can’t help wondering if the belligerent patient didn’t end up having the said catheter inserted in a different orifice by a burly male nurse…
