There was nasty accident on the A-7 Autovia yesterday evening, around 8pm at the 303 kilometre point; i.e., right in the middle of the Cantarrijan bridge, which spans the Malaga-Granada provincial boundary.

Although three members of the same family were involved in the accident (a couple and their young child) nobody was killed. The mother, who had been travelling in the front passenger seat, had to be cut out of the vehicle. The injured were treated at the scene by a medical unit form Torrox Medical Centre.

According to the driver, the accident occurred after a mechanical failure, which made him lose control, causing the car to hit the safety barrier of the bridge and then roll over before coming to rest on its wheels again.
