Controversial Firings

A total of seven municipal workers have been dismissed in recent months, resulting in an ongoing court battle over alleged unfair dismissal. One of these cases has already reached a conclusion with Mari del Carmen Prados being reinstated.

Maria del Carmen has been working in the Town Hall since 1983 but in the last decade has received vexing treatment, such as being placed in a post that has nothing to do with her qualifications, such as working in the ticket office of the municipal swimming pool. To top it all off, in may of last year, the Town Hall announced entrance exams for her former administrative position; the job that she had previously occupied and the one that she is trained to occupy, as opposed to selling entrance tickets for a public pool.

With the changes in the Mayor’s office, she hopes that her work tribulations will be a thing of the past.
