Thanks to the tendency of a criminal to boast of his exploits, an off-duty policeman was able to tip his colleagues off that a young male passenger on the same bus that he was travelling on was crowing about how he had stabbed and killed somebody.

As a result, Policía Nacional in Madrid were able to arrest 19-year-old Oscar Eliseo C.F. and charge him with a murder in Malaga.

The conversation that the policeman overheard was taking place over a mobile telephone on the inter-regional bus between Malaga and Madrid in the early hours of the morning, as it was an overnight journey.

The off-duty policeman, who had been sitting across the aisle from the accused, had the presence of mind to send a SMS to 061, identifying himself and giving a description of the suspect.

Consequently, as soon as the bus pulled into the Madrid bus station and the doors opened, the lad was arrested.
