Underwater Welding Course

Another item of news concerning divers is the initiation of the first professional divers course in the province at the Centro de Buceo de La Herradura, giving diplomas to the students to work in underwater construction, welding and salvage operations, etc. The course will conclude at the beginning of August.

This is fantastic news for the village because although La Herradura has long been somewhere where you can learn to dive for leisure activities, it now will attract people who need these skills for underwater work tasks – there could be nowhere better for some to learn.

I say this because ten or 15 years back I gave English classes to a group of three professional divers who were working on the underwater sewage pipelines. They said what a pleasure it was to dive around here, compared with the murky waters of Barcelona port, for example.
