Ten years ago a senior citizen while out for a walk in the barrio, stepped into an unexpected hole in the sidewalk, fell, hurt himself, then got up and began proceedings against the Town Hall for 50,000 euros.

Ten years later, the Andaluz Supreme court has awarded the man 20,000 euros in compensation in a decision that can not be appealed, but the Town Hall was never ready to part with even one cent.

The then 73-year-old Granada man seriously banged himself up, and although surgery was considered, it was ruled out by surgeons, who feared for the man’s safety owing to his age. At least now the gent ought to feel better with the money, in spite of health always meaning more than nasty lucre.
