Wifi in Public Squares

Wifi is more readily available in the town than ever. Motrileños will soon be able to connect up in five new public places.

The five places will be: Plaza de la Coronación, Plaza de España, Parque de los Pueblos de América and the Parque de la Calle Ancha.

It has not only been a technical problem providing this coverage, but also one of bureaucracy, because the Town Hall has had to obtain the service directly of the server.

Now to use this service, you need to register as a user and have a password, because existing law does not permit you to provide such a service without controlling those that are using it. To obtain a user subscription you can either go to the municipal webpage, using an electronic signature, or physically turn up at the municipal registry and filling out the appropriate form, which will provide your user name and password within 72 hours.

“The service is not for people who want to download things, but more for people who want to surf the Net,” explained Nicolás Navarro, Councillor for New Technologies.

Finally, users will be limited to three hours maximum per day, so that the system is not saturated, and the service will only be available at ground level to stop people using it from nearby blocks of flats, which would get the Town Hall into hot water with Internet providers.
