Termites are on the verge of bringing many buildings in the old town down about inhabitants of Íllora’ ears. For the past fifteen years the voracious critters have succeeded in creating huge colonies up to two metres below ground.
So a new battle is on in which technicians plan to introduce pine and cellulose, soaked in an insecticide, Hexaflumuron, which has been proven effective in killing termites and larvae.
A bit of a slow process, the hopes are that workers will take the poison back to the queen in the colony and once she takes the bait that means that they’ll all perish. Let’s hope it works for if not, the old town of Íllora will collapse.
