Annie Sloan

It was exciting to speak to somebody this week who explained how her business has developed positively as a consequence of the financial crunch that we are all experiencing.

Jane at Annie Sloan told me how she now spends a lot of her time outside of the shop at the customer’s request, revamping old furniture or decorating walls using annieSLOAN paint and Sandtex (a tough exterior paint for walls).

In house, Jane and Patricia have been working hard on their own range of painted furniture, called ‘Smoke and Mirrors.’ It’s a highly extravagant approach to colour using decoupage, stencilling, free hand painting and anything else than comes within their grasp, to create all sorts of textured surfaces for their furniture.
The painters and artisans represented in the shop have been busy creating new designs. Annabel Keatley shows a fun range of her soft furnishings, colourful material doorstops, room signs, collage work on scented cushions. I understand she will be working on a special Christmas range of postable pressies along those lines too!

Anna Digesu has had prints made of her wonderful naïve paintings – the weddings and fiestas she made her name with – which have been selling like hot cakes in the shop…so hurry!

You can see a lot of their work on the website www.indigointeriors.eu or their Facebook page, if you prefer, Indigo Interiors. Jane has scheduled an open-house day for later on in the year when people are invited to share a glass of wine and see what they are up to. If you don’t feel like waiting for the open day, why not pass by now and have a preview.
