The residents of Barrio de los Marinos, supported by the ubiquitous PSOE, are urging the Town Hall to carry out some urgently needed work on public spaces within the barrio (neighbourhood). They’re also asking for a greater police presence.

The work that they are asking for is, for example, better street lighting and fencing around public spaces (squares and communal steps). Now, this is a Benavides stronghold so it is quite surprising that the locals are turning to the PSOE…

A proposal that has come from the socialists themselves is a minibus transport service that will actually reach the top, rather than, as is the present arrangement with the normal buses, drop the locals at the bottom. Considering that there is a high percentage of elderly residence in the barrio, this suggestion went down well.
