Now we have the Furore at Avenida Federico Garcia Lorca; after all the works carried out over the past few months, all the new roads and pavements were mysteriously dug up again. Then the road was re-laid. Ideal reports that the initial works were ‘liable to subsidence;’ therefore it was sensible to dig it all up and start over again.

Other opinions have it that the Ayuntamiento agreed to create some additional work for the chosen contractor, by having the work re-done. And the local gossip has it that a disgruntled (i.e. unpaid) sub-contractor decided that his chances of being paid for his work were sufficiently poor, that he took his JCB and simply ploughed up the street in a fit of pique.

We have no reliable information as to which might be the truth. Go figure.
