Turismo Takkuss

There is an exciting new business in town called Turismo Takkuss. Takkuss is the Greenlandic expression for “See you.” It is owned and run by Laust Hojbjerg, originally from Denmark, and his Moroccan wife Sofia. Since opening on June 15th, this Activity Tourism Agency has been busy steady.

I spoke with Laust to learn a little more about him and what Turismo Takkuss offers. He told me he and his family have been based in Almuñécar for eight years. However, he was away working in Greenland for months while his family remained here. In Greenland, Laust worked in the wilderness and adventure tourism industry as a guide – snowmobiling, trophy hunting for musk ox and reindeer, and giving 4×4 tours on ice caps etc.

He wanted to be with his wife and family and was thus inspired to start a venture involving tours and excursions based in Andalucía. According to Laust this is the best spot on the coast and he knows the terrain well, being the avid and experienced hiker that he is.

Turismo Takkuss offers many activities, tours and excursions as alternative ways to discover Andalucía. Activities include hiking, paragliding, sailing, waterskiing, tubing, horseback riding, scuba diving, 4×4 tours, to name a few. Laust is actually a dive master and a yacht master himself! They have a long list of half day and full day excursions to all the unique places in the area – such as to the natural hot springs in Alhama de Granada, wellness trips to an Arabian Hamman, trips to Rio Verde Alto, Peña Escrita or the Nerja Caves.

Right now, with this scorching weather, the outing to the waterfalls at Junta de los Ríos is a popular one. They also offer culture and gastronomy trips to Granada and villages in the Alpujarra, as well as trips to Morocco (usually lasting 3 to 5 days). They are always happy and willing to customize a trip for you if you have a special request. The list of excursions is available at their shop located across from the town hall. All meals and drinks are included in their prices.

When you visit them, you will see that their shop is also a boutique specializing in Moroccan artifacts. They are open from 10:00-14:00 and from 18:00 until late. Sofia, having vast experience as a restaurant manager and event organizer, also offers her services with regards to weddings, birthdays and business events. Furthermore, speaking nine languages between the two of them, it is no surprise that they provide translation services as well. Sofia has, in fact, worked as a translator for the Guardia Civil.

It seems apparent that Laust and Sofia are quite the multi-talented and hard-working team, and I have no doubt that their clients are in good hands. They are registered and fully insured with the Junta de Andalucía.
