Going back to the subject of schools, but on a much happier note, May saw local schools taking part in the 10th Scientific Conference, celebrated on the streets of the village with local children demonstrating their skills.
Activities began with the ‘mathematics corridor’ at Las Gaviotas, and a physical-development workshop on density and sound solutions aimed at both teachers and students.
This was followed the next day in a public mathematics workshop in San José square, with the highlights being the mathematical gymkhana, involving simple mathematical puzzles, Geoplana, abacus, mirrors and symmetry, as well as games involving rings and ropes that delighted both the young and the old.
