So, off to that throbbing metropolis which is Lobres one fine Saturday morning, for the official unveiling of a big new project in the township. British couple, Nicky & Jon Euesden, who are based in Almuñécar, have been trying to decide what to do with a large plot of land they have owned in the village for some time now. Having obtained permission for several houses though, as Jon told me, “We just didn’t think we could sell that many houses within a reasonable timeframe in the current market.”
Not to be thwarted, the couple has now obtained planning permission for, and are going ahead with, the construction of a large Care and Rehabilitation Centre. With a central location close to the town square, the facility will have 130 beds, with swimming pools, a fully-fitted gymnasium and a professionally staffed rehab unit. Nicky and Jon are now in the process of putting out requests for bids to be tendered for the construction.
Not only will the facility meet the increasing needs of families no longer able to care for the elderly or infirm at home, it will provide much needed resources, for example, to those injured in industrial or traffic accidents who are in need of added help to return to full fitness.
Not to mention, of course, the much needed employment which will be brought into the village by the initial construction, followed by the staffing needs of the Centre once it is operational. Good luck to Nicky and Jon with the project.
