‘Thank you’ to those readers who offered their services to help with the Mayor’s idea of setting up a communal dining facility to help the unemployed. I wish I had more to tell you, but I’ve been trying to get together with either the Mayor, or his Councillor for Social Services for two weeks now – to be told, “they are discussing it.”
Grrr! We have volunteers; we have a food bank; we have a catering college; and we have the offer of some financial support from the International Club, to purchase food if we need to. So what more does it take? The Mayor has been doing his hand-wringing act again in the press, saying, “We have to invent something. People must stand together, fight together, to make the situation more bearable for those who suffer”. Ahem, yerhonner. As soon as I get any news, I’ll let everybody know.
