Work on improving the green and other areas of Salobreña has begun, using funds received both from the Junta de Andalucía and the Central Government. For instance, work is being carried out on the entrance road for the Guardia and the extension of the green areas on the Avenidas García Lorca and Antonio Machado.
In the case of Avenida García Lorca (between the church and the municipal market) the green area will be extended whilst the pavement on the opposite side will also have gardened areas to make the whole thing more uniform. This will entail the elimination of parking spaces and the road narrowed down to a single lane as far as Avenida Antonio Machado is concerned, although work will only affect one side of the road.
In both cases, according to the Councillor of the Environment, Gustavo Aybar, the object is to gain space for pedestrians at the expense of vehicles. This is part of the Agenda 21, which deals with environmental quality.
The budget runs into 120,000 euros and the estimated work time is three months, so basically take your shoe size, double it by the first number that comes into your head, and divide it by how many times you got laid in October and that should give a sum equal to the amount of weeks that the work will really take, OK?
