Fem Power

A touch of Fem Power was abounding during the III Feria de Mujeres Emprendedoras, which was held in the huge function hall at the Balneario de Lanjarón. The get-together invoked 22 businesswomen, most of whom were from around the Alpujarra and the Valle de Lecrín.
The Fair was a chance for all of them to show off their products as well as complain about their husbands and boyfriends, pretty much as men do when they get together.
Just some of the products on display were: embroidery, glassware, paintings, mosaics, natural perfumes, homemade chocolate, jewellery, sweets, wines & liqueurs, kiddie’s kit, honey, travel agency material and a whole host of other things that my keyboard flatly refuses to reproduce for mental health reasons.
Present at the Fair were the Mayor of Lanjarón and the Chairwoman for the women’s association, Las Adelfas, Maria Jiménez. Also caught sneaking around was the Co-ordinator for the Instituto Andaluz de la Mujer and the regional MP for Equality, Josefa Caballero, whose name would translate to Joe Gentleman, which is a spiffing name for a woman in charge of sexual equality!
Mariano the Mayor declared, “This Fair stimulates women to create businesses and employment and, therefore, we shall continue to do this every year.”
Three cheers for the Lanjarón Ladies and Mariano the Mayor. The burning question was, however, who ate all the homemade chocolate?
