On the first of September it was announced that the Town Hall would be granting subventions to social associations and clubs. This news was soured by a press release on the 3rd, when it was announced that Almuñécar social associations still hadn’t received their grants from 2008.
The Town hall announced that it would share out 11,500 euros in the form of aid to several associations, the principal benefactor will be the Bonsai park in the Plaza de Marreucos, which will receive 8,000 euros of the total. The Asociación de Vecinos de Las Maravillas in La Herradura received 2,500 euros for its barrio fiesta event.
Lastly, the Asociación Ornitológica del Almuñécar received 1,000 euros for the 23rd annual ornithological competition, which will be held from the 23rd of October to the 15th of November.
As mentioned above, according to the conservative opposition party, the social associations of Almuñécar have still not received their funds from the Town Hall for 2008.
