Dry Marina for Salobreña

In coordination with the Club Nautical, plans are already well underway to install a dry marina near the Río Guadalfeo.
An area of 4,500 sq. meters has already been cleared near the banks of the river to store the boats and the next stage is to start installing the mechanism that will haul the vessels to and from the water’s edge. The idea of the project is to move the boats off the beach where they’re currently stationed and give sunbathers more space to park their towels.
Coming in at a total, estimated cost of 40,000 euros, the project is funded by the Club Náutico, which has been fighting for approval for the past three years.
It has not however escaped criticism. This time from several sources, the first being environmentalists, who want to preserve the river banks, of which it is now too late, and the second being several ex members of the Club Náutico, who believe that the new system will create an elitist club for rich members only. At 500 euros a pop, in the club’s defence, the dry docks are still amongst the cheapest along the coastline and your money will secure your boat a place for the next 50 years (although bear in mind the council will still own the land). To join the club however will cost you 200 euros plus an annual maintenance fee of 360 euros. Looks like I’ll be sticking with my lilo for the time being…
