Obviously the big story was the opening of the motorway (see front page) but with an end now in sight, Salobreña has started plotting ways to take advantage of the, soon to be, reduced traffic on the old N-340.
In the pipeline is the creation of six lookout points between Hotel Salobreña and La Caleta. They will boast breathtaking views, looking out across the sea and be surrounded by an abundance of beautiful vegetation. Access will be via small roads leading off the N-340 and the points will attract a more leisurely kind of traffic to the hillside.
The Town Hall also plan to try and increase the safety of the current route, put in designated stopping places and eventually construct new areas for sport. A welcome reformation indeed that, by the sounds of things, will turn what was once a pretty hairy route into relaxing day out!
