Annual Giant Paella

This year marks the 21st campaign organized by the Asocación Solidaria Amigos de Baracoa, which culminates in the Giant Paella prepared by Joaquín from La Herradura’s Chambao de Joaquín in the Majuelo, Almuñécar.

Joaquin in the Park

Don’t forget that Joaquin from Chambao de Joaquin will be strutting his stuff in Majuelo Park in Almuñécar on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of this month. He will be making his usual giant paella in such a way that only Joaquin can.

Baracoa Fundraiser

Joaquín from El Chambao de Joaquín held his annual fund-raising event on July 23rd and 24th at Plaza Nueva in La Herradura. From what I have been told, the fund-raiser was to assist the town of Baracoa in Cuba with funding for social installations such as schools and hospitals.

VIP Visit

La Herradura had a famous visitor at the end of December. Although the event went largely unnoticed, the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, dropped in one Sunday to enjoy some afternoon sunshine and a bite to eat.
Joaquin at Chamboa de Joaquin has been a busy man lately, with his spectacular annual charity paella event in Almuñécar, and prior to that, where did Ms. McAleese and her entourage decide to enjoy a view of the bay and a bit of Spanish nosh? You’ve guessed it!

Joaquín for Cuba

This yearly event in the Parque Majuelo in Almuñécar should not be missed, with a giant paella prepared in spectacular style by Joaquin, Cuban music and other entertainment, it really is a great day out.

Chamboa to Cuba

Joaquin from El Chambao de Joaquin in La Herradura, has asked me to put an early mention in for the benefit giant paella in the Mejuelo park in Almuñécar on January 16th and 17th.

You really cannot come to La Herradura without eating at the restaurant belonging to a man who can only be described as a national institution. With his flamboyant style, Joaquín produces brilliant paellas, fresh fish, succulant meats… and all cooked over an open fire!
