Granada is suffering from a bout of arson with 15 rubbish containers being torched in the first half of this month.
It was exactly a dozen years ago that the European Parliament passed the 2008/98/CE directive concerning goals for the disposal of rubbish.
Everybody was relieved when the rubbish-collection strike ended in Granada after 13 days of mounting filth.
The provincial capital is awash with accumulating rubbish, left uncollected by striking workers. If that were not bad enough, the city’s firemen have had to extinguish 23 rubbish hoppers over the weekend that have been deliberately torched.
