Hummel is Danish

The European Men’s Handball Championships in Serbia are happening as I write this article. I watched Denmark lose to both Poland and Serbia, but smiled at the fact that at least both winning teams were sporting Danish uniforms. I recognized the distinctive chevron sleeve trim on the jerseys and shorts and knew instantly that they were hummel (spelled with lower case h) uniforms. This chevron trim and a stylized bumblebee are the company’s logo.

Ungrateful Fork

Before you could say, “Peace be amongst you,” one of the two ‘combatants’ has him by the neck and is attempting to throttle him on the ground. Now, things are not going very well for the volunteer that particular evening, but they are set to deteriorate further, because the girlfriend of the aggressor decides that the volunteer needs a spot of cranial perforation and stabs him repeatedly in the head with her generously provided fork.
RBL Charity Walk

On Sunday 6th November eighteen members and friends of the Nerja Branch, Royal British Legion took part in a sponsored walk through the town in support of the 2011 Poppy Appeal. Setting off from the Al Andalus Hotel in Maro, the group made their way down to the Balcon de Europa and then on to the Puente restaurant where they enjoyed drinks and tapas.
AECC Charity Run

As always, the race saw many entrants running for our, much-loved, local, cancer charity, AECC (Asociacion Española Contra el Cancer). These local residents all gave up their time, not just during the run, but also obtaining sponsorship and training for the day. Some ran just a couple of K’s, while others ran the entire 14… with some respectable times we might add!
