That is what the residents of Calahonda are asking themselves after extensive flooding beset the town. The fact of the matter is that torrential rain cannot be blamed on municipal authorities, but the readiness – or lack of it – of a town to cope with such phenomenon is quite another matter.
A7 Gorgoracha-Puntalon Go Ahead

The much-needed stretch of autovia between Gorgoracha and Puntalón was 75% complete when all work ground to a halt; the construction company Isolux Corsan had struck an unexpected strata of rock that would require a lot of extra funding to reroute the construction work.

Albuñol Police Catch Bus

The Local Police in Albuñol are reportedly not being paid and are having to attend incidents by bus. Incredible as it seems, there is apparently not enough money to meet gasoline bills, so they have been ordered to leave all the cars and motorcycles in the garage.
Mother and Son Arrested

The mother had reported a break-in during August of 2010 at their home in Castell de Ferro, with the resulting loss of money and jewellery amounting to 5,100 euros. Almost exactly a year later the son did the same, this time for 5,050 euros.
A-7 Confusion

The Province of Granada seems to be receiving one piece of bad news after another. First of all it was the negative from Brussels to route the Mediterranean rail-freight network via Costa Tropical, leaving Motril port without a rail connection, and then on the 26th of October, it was announced that the autovia construction between Taramay and Salobreña had seemingly ground to a halt.
Funds for The N-340

Anybody that has driven along the N-340 where it passes between La Herradura and the eastern entrance into Motril would be well aware of the state of the main road and grateful that funds have been allotted to make it both smoother and safer.
Tropico de Europa

The hoteliers have dug out an old term to put our section of the coast on the map, so to speak: Tropico de Europa. The problem with the term Costa Tropical is that many tourists immediately think of Central America, which is, admittedly, more logical.

A total of 30 construction companies are bidding for a juicy 45.7m-euro contract to build the Gorgoracha-Puntalón stretch of the A-7 Mediterranean autovia, which is not surprising, given the fact that major public works around the country have been cut drastically.
