Stopping off at Windsurf La Herradura and pretending I’m still all sporty and fit is always a treat, and on a recent visit I was lucky enough to have a nice long chat with Louis Schraven, who has run the business since 1979.

Jeannot
by David Darby •
It is true that Jeannot on the Paseo in La Herradura does serve some of the finest fish dishes available in the area, but what I love about the place is not just the variety of food available, but the variety of people you meet or see there.
Special Spar
by David Darby •
Have I ever mentioned my urges? I really can’t help it, and even counselling doesn’t seem to help. It’s cream crackers, mature cheddar and Branston pickle.
Almuñécar July Agenda
by Editor •
The Town Hall sent us the Almuñécar cultural agenda for July… on the 1st of July, cleverly making it absolutely impossible to include the information in the hard-copy edition of the Seaside Gazette. *Sigh!*

The Historic Dockyard Chatham is delighted to let you know that HMS Cavalier, our Second World War Destroyer, has reached the semi-finals of the National Lottery Awards. The Awards are an annual search to find the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded project, and they aim to celebrate and recognise the difference that those projects have made to people, places and communities all across the UK.
Ventura Flamenco
by David Darby •
Quite a few people have mentioned to me just how much they have enjoyed the Flamenco evenings at La Ventura in Almuñécar.
Well now, it’s going to be bigger and better! With the patio to the rear of the premises having had a stage installed, there will now be live Flamenco music and dance every Thursday and Sunday from 20.30h.

Sunday June 20th is Father’s Day, and to celebrate, Mark is creating a five course menu for just €15!

You can also catch the Los Laureles team at the Feria Gastronomica where you can sample some of the fantastic dishes available in this special Almuñécar restaurant. They will be at their stall daily on 11th, 12th and 13th June.
It’s Gastronomy Time
by David Darby •
It’s June, and that means it is once again time for the Feria Gastromónica (Gastronomic Fair), in the Majuelo Park in Almuñécar during the weekend of 11th, 12th and 13th.
Those of you who have been to this event before will no doubt be paying another visit, and if this is one of the annual ferias you have not yet visited, then you are in for a treat.
Motril Air Display
by Editor •
Motril’s annual air display will take place on Playa Granada at 11 o’clock in the morning of Sunday the 6th of June. Last year the air display was dedicated to helicopters and gyrocopters, whereas this year the emphasis is on light aircraft, featuring an aerobatics team and there will also be a military contingent. La Herradura English Library
by David Darby •
There are now over 900 titles fully catalogued on the library’s computer that contains all the English language titles from every library in Andalusia. Even if you can’t find the title you want, the computer can be checked, and if it is held at another site, they will despatch it to La Herradura free of charge. What an excellent service!
