News and updates on what is happening to people in our areas

El Ancla Offer

Fish and chips on a Friday were always the order of the day when I was a lad. Luckily, we can have Jonathan’s spectacular fish and chips at El Ancla every day, that’s right, not just Fridays but every day!
But just to keep Fridays a bit special, the brilliant offer during June is a bottle of house red or white wine with your fish and chips! That’s right, you can have fish and chips every day, but on Fridays you get a bottle of wine to boot, absolutely free! (Probably best you book in advance).

High Horse!

Don’t you just love this time of year? The weather is just great, but the influx of tourists is still a little way off and, during the week especially, the beaches, bars and walks are still relatively quiet.
So, why not take advantage of the weather and lack of crowds and get yourself astride a beautiful horse! Just give Karen a ring at The La Herradura Riding Centre, and whether you’re a beginner or an experienced horse person, you can get yourself out and about in the most beautiful of countryside to be found in our area.

Los Laureles for Dads

21st of June is Father’s Day, and in celebration of this, Mark is preparing a fantastic three-course menu for just €15, with a choice of three starters, mains and desserts. He assures me that one of the mains will be Roast Sirloin of Beef and the puddings will be typically ‘dad pleasing’ dishes. Bearing in mind the success of the Mother’s Day menu, we strongly suggest you book your table well in advance.

The Whole Hole

he Editor said to me there was a hole, and he needed me to look into it, which I did, and it was deep!
The real point is, that many of us, on occasion, need holes, whether it is for a septic tank, a swimming pool or even footings for a building project. And this is where J.D. Mini Maquinaria comes in with their range of excavators and dumpers with drivers.

Mirador Extra!

Did you know that the Mirador de Cerro Gordo is expanding? Not in size, obviously, because if it got any bigger it would slide off the top of hill and down onto La Herradura beach… which, I admit, would have a certain comedy value, but then where would we all go?
Seriously, they are expanding their hours to seven days a week, all day, from 11am. Which is great for me, as I love it up there… in fact last time I was there Kevin donned a night shirt, a floppy hat and was wandering around with a candle… I think maybe I’d outstayed my welcome?

10% Off Laundry

The brilliant, family-run Lavanderia Avenida in Almuñécar is opposite the Costa Banana apartment blocks, just as you enter town at the Guardia Civil junction on the right, and they are offering 10% off all their services!

Aircon Time!

It’s that time of year again, so have you been serviced lately? Well, all air conditioning systems should be serviced every six months, although most people choose to have theirs serviced annually, and for domestic use this is acceptable. However, for commercial units, you really should be sticking to the 6-month rule.

Iguana Playa, Almuñécar

The lads at Iguana Playa (Taramay, Almuñécar) tell us that they will be opening everyday, instead of closing Mondays, from the beginning of June on.

Tartana Terrace Time!

Summer is very nearly upon us, and we are already enjoying sunny days and warm weather, and where could be better to spend those warm afternoons, than on the terraces of La Tartana in Urb. San Nicolás, La Herradura.

About Arboreum

What about Arboreum? Well, this classy interior design shop in Almuñécar has moved… but not very far. In fact, just a few doors down from where they used to be, and I can even give you really good directions!
