Camino a los Tablones

Workers have surfaced a 600-metre section of the lane leading to the Los Tablones Cemetery in Motril, which also gives access to around 20 farming plots and homes.

The lane, known as the Camino a los Tablones, had been plagued with mud and ruts along its steep length making it difficult to transit, so the work to tarmac the worse parts, including an improvement to drainage, is very welcome.

The task had a budge of 188,865 euros, which was funded through the 2025 Agricultural Employment Promotion Plan (PFEA). But it was only one part of the larger 2025 PFEA framework managing a total budget of 1,703,882.25 euros dedicated entirely to rural roads, barrios, and annexes across Motril.

The Town Hall had made it a priority to finish the tarmacking before All Saints’ Day, which is when families visit the cemetery.

The Secretary of the Los Tablones Neighbuorhood Association, Andrés Rubiño, explained that repairing this road was “a highly desired intervention for all residents, given that many of our family members rest in the Los Tablones Cemetery; there was much need, and we are grateful that it has been fulfilled.”
