A Bus Stop Needed?

The far-left party, Izquierda Unida (IU) in Salobreña expressed its satisfaction over the imminent inauguration of the new Centro de Salud but said there could be problems.

Their party leader considers that being half way to the beach it would be difficult for elderly residents or people with mobility problems to get there.

“Not everybody has their own car or cannot afford a taxi every time they need to go the the Centro de Saludo,” read the communiqué.

The answer, the IU considers, is for the municipal bus that links the town centre to the beach area should include a bus stop there.

They said it wouldn’t solve the problem because this bus service runs too infrequently to be a solution, but it is, at least, a step in the right direction.

If you have to go to have a blood sample taken, for instance, you have to be there starting at 08.00h which is before the first bus is available.

So a formal bus stop at the Centro de Salud and more frequent bus runs would be helpful.

I guess if they can hobble or crawl. To the newish bus depot beyond the roundabout by the gas station. Then the I hope free bus from the brand new car park. For those wishing to paddle. To the wholly pedestrianised beach front walk. Maybe the answer. A bus stop would make sense. But then so would keeping cars flowing to the beach and back. Lots of happy faces after a day sizzling , waiting for a bus back to the car park.
