Canyon Road Death

A middle-aged biker met his death in the early hours of yesterday after coming off his machine on the N-323 where it passes through the Azud de Vélez.

According to the emergency coordination centre, 112, the accident took place near kilometre-point 185 on the Granada-bound lane just before three in the morning.

A caller requested urgent medical assistance for a biker who was lying on the road, so 112 immediately despatched a 061 ambulance, a Guardia Civil, traffic-police patrol and a road-maintenance team.

According to the paramedics onboard the ambulance, there was nothing that could be done for the 50-year-old victim.
