Officer Accused of Chemical submission

A National Police officer has been arrested for an alleged chemical submission attempt in a bar.

The officer who had already been suspended without pay for stealing money during a raid in the past and following this second charge, has been provisionally released after appearing in court around the middle of last month.

The judge, however, ordered that his release be accompanied by precautionary measures: a restraining order and a ban on communicating with the victim.

The accused allegedly tried to drug a woman during a date in a bar. A tip-off alerted the Policía Nacional to the incident and officers rushed to the scene.. They seized the glass of wine to analyse its contents. The victim also filed a complaint.

There followed an investigation by the Family and Women’s Care Unit (UFAM) and after days of inquiries, they arrested the officer.

The accused and the victim had met at a bar located in the center of Granada during the May bankholiday. They shared a mutual acquaintance and, furthermore, he told her he was a police officer, which naturally made her feel more at ease.

However, the woman went to the restroom but what happened to her drink during her absence was captured by the premises CCTV, which is being used as evidence The footage shows the man taking grabbing her wine glass, looking around and then taking something out of his pocket, which appears to be a small bottle. He then takes what appears to be pills out of his pocket and drops them into her drink.

Then something crucial occurred which stopped her from drinking her wine; another customer saw what happened: he realised the man might have tried to drug her. Without hesitation, he approached her to warn her. The victim returned to the table and demanded explanations from her companion, who, always according to witnesses, replied that he had done it to get her “in the mood.”

There is another twist to the story because the accused was no longer working as a police officer as his badge and weapon had been confiscated following his suspension from duty without pay following an Internal Affairs decision June 17, 2025.

Why? Because during an anti-drug operation in Granada, he hid part of the seized money, close to 5,000 euros. His own colleagues noticed it. They arrested him right on the spot.

What has happened since will uncertainly mean he will be expelled from the force, regardless of whether he is found guilty or not for what happened in the bar.
