They have been working on carrying out emergency repairs on Calle Espaldas where a slope has collapsed down onto another street below.
Now, if you’re wondering where the hell that is, it’s behind the Centro de Mayores (pensioners club), where the news of the slope giving way might have depleted their membership…

What happened was the wall at the top of the slope subsided and soil and rocks spilled down onto Calle Cochera below – this had been caused by the constant rainfall this winter.
As a precautionary measure some people were moved out of their homes to be on the safe side. In the meantime workers from the maintenance department have concreted the surface of a previously dirt footpath and secured remaining rocks on the slope from coming loose.
Mayor, Javier Ortega is hoping that the town will receive some dosh from the provincial or regional administrations to cover the cost of this work, along the lines of the funding received for the emergency work carried out in Lobres where the sinkhole appeared, or on Plaza del Lavadero in La Caleta.
