There was a house fire on Calle Alvarico, in Motril on Thursday that started a little before 16.00h.

The Motril Fire Department (Cuerpo de Bomberos) were first at the scene, expecting to find people trapped inside, followed by the la Policía Local de Motril and the Policía Nacional, as well as a 061 ambulance.

A neighbour told them that there was at least one person inside whilst another person had jumped from an upper window suffering several fractures. This person was flown by an air-ambulance helicopter directly to Hospital Traumatologia in the city of Granada.

The cause of the fire at the time of writing is still under investigation and the cost of the damage is also being evaluated.
