The incident took place last Tuesday on the seafront promenade in San Pedro Alcántara, involving a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois

The 55-year-old dog owner, who lives in Maracena, was identified thanks to the dogs, microchip, and finally located in the early hours of Saturday. They had found his car.
When questioned, the dog owner said that he had fallen asleep in his car with the dog, which he kept chained to the handbrake. Apparently, three days previously, it had escaped through a side window which was stuck in the down position and he had spent days looking for it
He could face a fine of between €500 to €30,000 as the parents of the two boys had reported the incident to the police and were suing him.
The dog, captured shortly after the incident on Tuesday, was taken to the Triple A Marbella animal shelter. It will now undergo an obligatory quarantine period while an inspector conducts tests to determine if the animal is inherently aggressive or fit for rehabilitation.
