Candlelit Night in Lobres

Lobres is preparing to celebrate its now-traditional Noche de las Candelas (Candlelit Night) on January the 29th.

In this sixth year of the event, the village will completely switch off its public lighting to be illuminated exclusively by thousands of candles, offering visitors a magical experience to enjoy the starry sky and live music drifting through streets and squares.

Music will play a strong part in the event with a very special programme. In this edition, the Plaza de la Libertad will once again feature a pianist but this time accompanied by saxophonist.

Participants can enjoy the sound of a Trío de Capilla (Chamber Trio) in the village church, whilst in the Hermita  a guitarist will give a performance. Even the Centro Médico will be the venue for a performance by a solo saxophonist with a selection of melodies.

The Councilor of Lobres, Nelson Ligero, said that it will be “a truly magical experience” and encourages residents and visitors to participate.

As for residents of Lobres, he called upon street residents to decorate their own streets, joining the crucial role played by local associations that, year after year, adorn the squares and public spaces.

As a new feature this year, there will be a map with the main points of interest, including the Puente de Hierro roundabout, Calle Ingenio, Plaza de la Candelaria, the Pensioners Club, and the Church.
