There was a fire in a flat in Almuñécar on the Paseo Puerta del Mar on Sunday, which was reported just after one in the afternoon.

The Almuñécar Fire Department despatched two fire vehicles to the apartment block, and a Guardia Civil patrol was also sent to the scene, as well as an ambulance from the municipal Centro de Salud.

Despite the amount of smoke, the fire, which reportedly started in the kitchen, was soon dealth with. However, the property owner and a neighbour had to be treated for smoke poisoning with the latter being transferred to Hospital Santa in Motril.
