The Junta de Andalucía has placed a 2-year-old girl into care after she tested positive for cocaine in a medical examination.
According to the Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Family, & Equality, the step was originally taken due to “neglect and risk”—the official classification given by social workers—which includes food insecurity, unhealthy environment, and lack of care, among other circumstances.

The girl was subsequently placed in emergency foster care and was taken to the Hospital Materno-Infantil for a check-up. It was there that doctors detected traces of narcotics in her system.
The Policía Nacional was informed about the situation by the Unidad de Familia y Atención a la Mujer (UFAM) in Torremolinos and the child’s parents are under investigation.
