The neighbourhood group that emerged in defence of the La Herradura Centro Náutica made the move last weekend to register itself as the La Asociación de Vecinos de La Caleta.
This gives it the legal status to have representatives before the Almuñécar-La Herradura Town Council and other institutions, they consider.

The founding assembly was held on Saturday the 29th with an ample participation of residents in the area, including residents of the block communities, Albaida, Sandra, Silvia, La Marina, Los Geranios and the semi-detached houses.
During the meeting, the Statutes were approved and the first Board of Directors was elected, made up of:
Chairman: Juan Calvo Jiménez
1st Vice Chairman: Luis J. Barbero Barbero
2nd Vice Chairman: Inmaculada López Bustos
Secretary: David Aranda García
Deputy Secretary: Juan Francisco Ballesteros Vargas
Treasurer: Trinidad Gómez Alcázar
Members: Elena Castrillo Castillo and Luis Pérez González
This group took this step following the “neighbourhood mobilisation against the municipal project that aims to demolish the facilities of the La Herradura Centro Náutica to build protected housing,” they said.
They anticipate that, in the coming weeks, it will begin formal meetings with the different municipal groups, sports entities, associations and institutional representatives.
