The world of coin-collecting is abuzz with the Cypriot 2-euro coin, which could be worth over 20,000 euros.
Coin collectors are not only looking for old coins (Medieval or Classic periods) but even modern ones. Choice aquisition are recently minted coins with defects, which gives them, sometimes, considerable value on the coin-collection market.

In our case, it’s this limited-series coin that was produced to mark the 20th anniversary of Cyprus joining the Common Market.
There have been ads that reach 26,000 euros for a 2012 coin, although it typically commands much less. However, prices are currently around 1,400 euros, which is not to be sniffed at.
It is a coin made with a nickel core, coated with nickel-brass and has a nickel-silver surround. That’s to say, it is pretty much like the 2-euro coin you have in your pocket. However, each EU country can chose the design of one of its faces, which in this case features the outline of the island next to the European-Commission building in Brussels.
It might be worth having a good look at the change in your pocket or purse, readers!
