The majestic, Royal Clipper cruise ship is one of the most iconic vessels that stops over at Motril Port each season.

This visit coincides with the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the creation of the Motril Port Authority.

During the official welcoming ceremony, the Mayor highlighted the role of Motril Port as an economic engine and strategic hub on Mediterranean routes.

The Royal Clipper returns to Motril year after year, which contributes to putting Motril’s name and that of the Costa Tropical into the international market. In fact, this is the 24th stopover for this particular clipper and the 62nd stopover for the Star Clipper Monaco, shipping-company ships.

The Royal Clipper, considered the largest five-masted sailing ship in service in the world, has a capacity of more than 200 passengers and combines the classic elegance of sailing with the most modern services of a luxury, cruise ship.

Motril Port placed a commemorative plaque on the Costa Pier for the Royal Clipper cruise ship in 2017, in recognition of the Star Clipper Shipping Company’s loyalty to the port.
