On October the 4th, the Motril Fish Market and its surrounding areas will host the third edition of the Sea Fair, organised by the Motril Fisheries Producers Organization (OPP85).
This event has established itself as a key event to showcase the richness of the local seafood and promote responsible fishing practices.

Following the success of the first two editions, this third edition reinforces OPP85‘s commitment to promoting local and sustainable consumption, supported by its collective brand MarDeMotril. The fair seeks to bring the public closer to the daily work of fishermen, showing how their efforts translate into fresh, quality food for households.
With activities designed for all audiences, from children’s workshops to cooking demonstrations, the event aims to raise awareness about the importance of supporting local and environmentally friendly fishing. In addition, information spaces will be available where visitors can learn about the marine resource recovery initiatives promoted by the OPP85 and learn about traditional fishing techniques that keep the region’s maritime heritage alive.
The fair, open to families, industry professionals, and visitors in general, has the collaboration of institutions such as the Motril Port Authority, Motril City Council, the Granada Provincial Council, and the Regional Government of Andalusia, as well as other local entities committed to sustainability and promoting the gastronomy of the Costa Tropical.
This event not only highlights the excellence of Motril’s fish products but also offers an educational leisure space where young people can discover the world of fishing and its importance to the ecosystem and the local economy in a fun way.

Reader’s comment: “Having read your article about the Sea Fair and being on holiday from the UK we decided to go and investigate it. The event was good once we were able to locate it which was only achieved with the help of the port police. We did not see any advertising telling people it was on or how to get to it. It seems a shame when people have put effort in such an event that it is not promoted.” – Andrew Sayer
Reader’s comment: “Hi, Just so happened that I visited the Sea Fair. All I can say was it was a little disappointing It was more bar and food on display If they want to do this again they might have to do a rethink” – Robert
