A 14-year-old lad and his 18-year-old cousin were rescued Tuesday night off Playa de Pedregalejo (Málaga), after they had set off to do some fishing in a kayak.
Salvamento Marítimo located them just before 22.00h, in the waning twilight after catching site of them as the night drew in.

It was just after 21.00h when the emergency coordination centre, 112, received a call from the father of one of the two lads, to say that they had gone out about an hour and a half earlier to go fishing in a kayak.
Neither had their mobile phone of them, probably because they didn’t want to get them wet, or worse, lose them overboard.
The emergency centre contacted Salvamento Marítimo, who despatched the rescue launch Salvamar Alnitak. They also contacted the Policía Local and the Guardia Civil.
The search was against the clock because of the approach of nightfall and with it the loss of visibility. Luckily they spotted the kayak 200 metres off the shore at 21.46h.
The rescue launch had the parents onboard, so the lads were immediately reunited with them. Neither required medical assistance so once back on dry land, they returned home with their families.
