It was just before eight in the morning last Sunday when two women on a paddle board managed to contact a friend to say that they couldn't get back to the shore.
She, in turn, called 112 to say that her friends were in trouble on a paddle board just off Playa de La Misericordia, which is a city of Málaga beach near the airport.

The Policía Local soon arrived at the beach and caught sight of the two, 25-year olds bobbing in the water some way out, having lost their paddle board. They were soon joined by the Real Cuerpo de Bomberos. Given how far out the women were, they decided to call in Salvamento Marítimo.
The fire personnel had set out in two of their RIBs to a point where the Policía had thought that they had seen the two swimmers, but when they reached that point, the women were no longer there as they were being carried along in the current. The sea state (swell) made it difficult to catch sight of them, as well.
They were sighted again 300 metres out and following instructions from the shore the fire-service RIBS and Salvamento Marítimo managed to reach them and they were pulled onboard the RIB and given thermal blankets to keep warm. Back on the beach they were attended to by the ambulance crew which was standing by.

Reader’s question: “Did they ever find the bodies of the two young men who went out about a year ago?” – P.B. Storey
There was no follow up information from the authorities, so probably not. I could be mistaken, though – Martin

Did they ever find the bodies of the two young men. That went out about a year ago. ??
